Here's what this is about – I'm looking for people working in creative roles to build a global community for us to collaborate across.
If you're new to this corner of the internet, my name is Sam. I am the founder, editor and digital content creator for The Luxury Convention which is an online resource for luxury fashion and beauty. The idea behind The Luxury Convention is not only to highlight luxury fashion and beauty but to also bring awareness to chain the events that take place between a designer designing a product and that product arriving in your hands – whether that be marketing, photography and styling, packaging, buying, merchandising and so much more. The reason I'm looking for creatives goes back to what I learned at university. The basic premise is that we've gotten to a point in creative industries – hopefully, this is across more than just fashion and beauty, where it's no longer about a rat race to be the best at everything. It is also about acknowledging the fact that we can work together to combine our skills to create something unique and interesting.
With that in mind, going off of the concept of a convention, I wanted to build a digital community where irrespective of your location, you can access a directory of creatives and find people to work with. Whether you're a new graduate, whether you're someone who already works in a corporate office and want to work on a side-hustle, it's about connecting more people to each other. One of the many things the pandemic has taught us is that work can be done from anywhere, location isn't a factor when it comes to collaboration, and that we now know which meetings could have been emails.
Whether you're a graphic designer, a wholesale assistant, a photographer, a corporate executive or even someone who does makeup for one and one day wants to make it a career – as long as you're someone who does something creative, I would love to welcome you to the community. The idea is not only to hopefully connect people to job opportunities but also to people from different walks of life, from different cultures, with different skills and just encourage collaboration and working together.
