CLOSET ESSENTIALS
A curated edit of staples, seasonal must-haves and cold-weather friendly pieces – all in one place for you to browse, shop with different budgets and some outfit inspo to style your favourite items.
BASIC T-SHIRTS
An all-round staple for any wardrobe - invest in a good quality, 100% cotton t-shirt. Key colours are white, black and navy and experiment with seasonal shades like rust or olive green for winter.
LONG-SLEEVE T-SHIRT
Another winter-time staple - pairs best with high-waisted trousers, midi skirts and as layers under sleeveless knitwear. Try to buy these from the Thermal section so that they double as a warm layer.
COTTON SHIRTS
These should be a part of your wardrobe, regardless of the season. White, Black and Pinstripe colourways are staples and can be worn tucked into denim, under slip dresses or knitwear.
OVERSIZED SHIRT
You can never go wrong with an over-sized shirt. In fact, this year it has been styled so, so well – be it belted over trousers, half-tucked into denim or layered under chunky knitwear.
TURTLENECK
For all the times you didn't want to wear these as a child, now's the time to embrace the turtleneck! A layering hero, it works well under blazers, jumpsuits and to balance heavy prints.
DENIM
If you're going to invest in something, let it be in good quality denim. Whether you prefer a straight-leg, skinny or boot-cut jean – aim for a light, dark and white pair as staples.
SKIRTS
I'm aware that skirts aren't for everyone but finding the right shape and fabric that works for you is a good place to start – whether that's an A-line, bodycon, leather, plaid or a knit skirt.
WIDE-LEG TROUSERS
Commonly overlooked a staple, a wide-leg trouser not only elongates your shape, but a high-waisted pair will also define your waist. A great alternative to denim and a lot more comfortable!
TRENCH COAT
Trench coats aren't only for summer outerwear, in fact, an oversized trench (or one size up) belted or kept open over chunky knitwear looks great without making you too warm.
STATEMENT COAT
At some point, you should invest in a statement trend-forward coat. Choose one that you can get most wear out of, and one you think will increase in value, in case you want to resell it later.
CROSS-BODY BAG
You can have so much fun with these so I won't restrict you to staples, but at the same time – pick ones that you know you can resell when the trends shift with each passing season.
WHITE SNEAKERS
White sneakers work really well for both casual and formal outfits. They elevate a casual jeans-and-t-shirt to make it look a little effortless, and go equally well with suit separates for casual Fridays.
STRUCTURED COAT
A great piece for your wardrobe when you want to lean into an oversized or structured silhouette. Best worn with skinny trousers or knee-high boots to add some balance to your look.
PUFFER
If you live in colder climates, you can't avoid this one. However, you can style it with boots and sneakers, jeans or a silk skirt, or opt for a pop of colour over a neutral outfit for a statement look.
WORK TOTE
My work bag is always full to the brim and a large leather tote is just want I want to contain all my paraphernalia while I'm out. A perfect addition to any outfit and ever so practical.
COMBAT BOOTS
The more rugged these get, the better they look. A great investment that'll keep you warm in snow-prone weather. Jazz them up with statement socks and add a casual vibe to any outfit.
SWEATER VEST
A recent favourite for many, the sweater vest is a fantastic layering piece over shirts and blouses for trans-seasonal dressing as well as for the chillier winter days paired with a matching cardigan.
WRAP COAT
The wrap coat is a personal favourite - you can wear it open over almost all outfits and can tie it with its own belt or experiment with statement buckle belts, leather corsets or even silk scarves!
BELTS
I tell clients to invest in a sturdy leather belt because it's a classic but you can experiment with variants with big buckles, a silk scarf instead of leather, or skinny ones over peplum tops
LOAFERS
An ideal pair of leather flats for your winter wardrobe, loafers pair well with everything from skinny jeans to formal trousers, with skirts and dresses and is thick enough to keep you warm too.
ANKLE BOOTS
Ankle boots suit almost all winter-weather outfits – whether with jeans, a skirt, or a dress. Try to have a leather or a suede pair in your wardrobe for versatility.
LEATHER JACKET
The best time to invest in leather is now before the prices go up for next season. A good leather jacket will be a permanent fixture in your closet so is definitely worth the investment!
TIGHTS
We all have the standard black and nude pair but experiment with different deniers and colours. Also this season has shown us several logo tights to choose from - the bougie-er the better
PUMPS
Not just for 'clackers', pumps or court shoes with everyday outfits are a great way to elevate your look. Black leather is a staple choice and very versatile, but experiment with prints and finishes.
KNEE HIGH BOOTS
Once you take the plunge to try on knee-high boots, you never really go back. They look great under dresses and skirts, over tights or jeans, and look especially chic when bunched up (soft-leather only)
